I have always thought that my dog was afraid of thunderstorms, that is until this morning. The reason I have thought she was afraid of them is because she would always come and lay at either Jeremy’s or my feet. But this morning around 4am we had a pretty strong storm come through.
I was woken up at the waaaayyy too early time of 4am not by the storm but by Kiki. We have a baby gate up in our hallway to keep the dog from going into the kids beds at night (she loves sleeping with them) but she knocked that down which startled me, so I got up shooed her off and put the gate back up. Well she was determined, she knocked it down again and trotted into my room and put her wet nose in my face. I figured that she was scarred so I brought her blanket into our room for her to sleep in there with us. She wanted nothing to do with her favorite blanket instead she was “making the rounds” she would walk into the kids room and hop on the bed,hop down, come into my room over to my side of the bed then go over to Jeremy side of the bed. She repeated this for well over an hour. Every now and then she would stop for a few min next to my side for me pet her but as soon as she saw lightning she was off making the rounds again. The only thing I can think of is that was her way of protecting us. Now I am not a dog expert or anything but that’s what I think was going on. I love my doggy. Even if she is waking me up at 4am…

Let me introduce you to (one) of my dogs. Her name is Kiki and I lover her to death. She is the laziest, smartest, stubborn and cutest dog. She is content with laying around the house all day as long as she gets some table scraps and MUST have something comfortable to lay on though. She will even “try” to curl up on a washcloth if that is the only comfortable thing to lay on at the time. Now a few years back I actually ran over her with my van. Trust me it was not intentional at all. I had her in the van on my way to get my son from day care. We were driving down the road and she had her head out the window like most dogs do, and she must have seen something that she wanted “REALLY” badly because all I saw was her go flying out the window behind me. She fell to the ground and my back tire went over her behind. I instantly pulled over and got out. She was running around very confused with what happened and all the traffic that was around her. I got her back into the van she was bleeding and shaking and I was on the verge of being hysterical. The kids were pretty shaken up as well. They didn’t want her in the van because she was bleeding, but they understood and we drove to the nearest vet and they took great care of her! Thankfully she didn’t suffer any major injuries and just needed a few stitches. She stayed in the vet hospital for about a week but other than that she was perfect. Needless to say if she goes in the car anymore she doesn’t get to put her head out the window…lol

I have chosen to embark on a year long journey. It’s the 365 photo challenge. My son who you see below is patiently waiting for me to play Super Mario Wii with him so I won’t go on forever but this is day one for me. I took this picture in “P” mode. I usually don’t shoot in this mode but I figured I would try it out. Anyways off to play Mario guys have fun!
My sleeping daughter and my silly dog~Susie Metzler Photography
My dog loves to sleep on my couch, she’s not supposed to and she knows it. But when I am not looking she sneaks up there. So when she does get up there without being caught by me she tries her best not to have anything move her. So I walk in the living room tonight I find that my daughter had fallen asleep on the couch which is fine, then I see that my dog is UNDER HER PILLOW! She doesn’t seem to mind that a child has her covered with a pillow and is laying on her. She is just as happy as a clam as long as she is on the couch.
Please keep in mind this photo was taken in the dark so it’s a bit fuzzy.

Dinner~Susie Metzler Photography
Welcome to 2010!! I will be making more of an effort to add more stuff to my blog. Now I am not one for words and getting all proper but I will make an effort with that as well. My 1st post for the new year is our dinner tonight. My mother-in-law would be proud. I have begun to slightly enjoy black-eyed peas. And I also made those awesome veggies. It is potatoes, zucchini, onions and red peppers. I mixed some olive oil, pepper and parm cheese in with it and roasted them for an hour. It was fantastic. I will be making that again! I have come to a realization that if I continue taking pictures of my food I really need new plates…lol My dishes are made of a mix match of everything.
Christmas~Susie Metzler Photography
This year we spent some time with both sides of the family. We had a fantastic time. It is so nice being able sit back and enjoy time with those you love. Our kids were very happy with the gifts they received, and the food we ate. This year the kids wanted to decorate the tree themselves so I agreed. They did a super job, much better than I thought they would do. I guess that’s what happens when kids grow before your eyes. They took time to try and spread out all of the ornaments nice and neat and made sure my favorites were in view. There are a few favorite ornaments I have, none are really anything sentimental I just love their look. I am making an effort on posting more here on my blog so I will share one of the ornaments with you. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and wishing you all the best for the upcoming year.
Christmas Exchange~Susie Metzler Photography
I am part of an awesome group on Flickr. It’s called Starting a Wedding Photography business, they decided to do a photo gift exchange for the holidays. We submitted our info and were given a persons info in return but it wasn’t the same person who got ours. I received an awesome photo of a nice green field with horses in the background. I really enjoyed this exchange. The photo that I took and sent to my secret person is below. It’s picture of a green and pink plant in my front yard. I hope you all enjoy.
